Miranda Beverly-Whittemore was born in Los Angeles in 1976. She attended Vassar College&44; where she received the Fiction Prize and after graduating worked at the 92nd Street Y’s Unterberg Poetry Center in New York City. Her first novel&44; The Effects of Light&44; 2005&44; was called an “ambitious first novel” by the New York Times and has been widely translated. Her second novel&44; Set Me Free&44; 2007&44; Publisher’s Weekly called&44; “an intriguing read”. Miranda writes and lives in Brooklyn with her husband.
